What is a UCS class account or folder? UCS class accounts or folders are folders that are created by your instructor. They are separate from your UCS home directory. Your home UCS directory exists as long as you remain a student. UCS class accounts exist for the duration of the course. The class folders in your CMPS 250 section belong to a project located at /w1/cs2501, where 1 is your section number. The instructor that created the project has read and write permission on all class folders. You have read and write permission on just your class folder. (This is separate from your home directory /home/your-clid, which the instructor cannot look in.) When the class project was created, a soft-link was placed in your home directory by the system. You see this as the folder cs2501, but if you do a "ls -l" command, you will see that it actually just points to /w1/cs2501/your-clid.
